About the Medical Laboratory Science Pre-Professional Program

Medical laboratory scientists (also known as clinical laboratory scientists and medical technologists) analyze blood, body fluids, tissue, and other human substances for patient medical care and research. Medical laboratory technologists are qualified for positions in clinical laboratories, research and development, the pharmaceutical industry, forensic labs, environmental labs, or teaching programs. The 3-year pre-medical laboratory science program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will meet the admissions requirements for the medical laboratory science program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) at the Omaha or Kearney campus. This is an additional 11 months, and students receive a Bachelor’s Degree upon completion. Students considering other schools should check their admissions requirements.
